My MacBook Air 2017 will not upgrade to mac os catalian

My MacBook Air 2017 model will not upgrade to mac os Catalina. When I tried to update it, it said that the request had timed out. This happened several times. Now it will not even say that there is an update available but that my mac os Mojave 10.14.6 is up to date. I have even tried going to the app store and getting it from there, but when I do that it says "finding update" and then goes back to the "your mac is up to date".

Hi there, eggwarrior.

I see that you're having a problem upgrading your 2017 MacBook Air to macOS Catalina. When you try, the request times out, and I'm glad to help.

Use safe mode to isolate issues with your Mac -- Restart your Mac in safe mode and see if you can upgrade from there. If it works while in safe mode, reboot normally and check which macOS your MacBook Air is currently on.

How to reinstall macOS from macOS Recovery -- If you're still unable to upgrade, restart your MacBook Air using the Option-Command-R combination to upgrade to the latest macOS that's compatible.

Let me know how that goes, and take care!
