Image Capture cannot import to network (bug?)

After updating to Catalina Image Capture throws error -9956 when trying to import to network drive.

Have granted Image Capture full disk access but to no avail.

Have tested nfs and smb but throws -9956.

Can confirm working when transferring to local disk and then to network mount.

Had no issue before upgrading to Catalina.

There are large amount of photos/videos, so I'd like to avoid the additional steps.

I too had this problem. It was very frustrating given that I use this a lot.

I decided to import to my internal drive, and while that was working, I saw "PTPCamera" consuming CPU. I made a guess that the actual disk access was being done by this other application, not "Image Capture". So...

  1. I opened up "/System/Library/Image Capture/Devices" in the Finder (Cmd-Shift-G)
  2. dragged "PTPCamera.app" to the Security & Privacy panel to give it full disk access
  3. I tried again to use Image Capture to import a photo from my phone ... and success!

I hope this works for you, too.
