Verification code not working

My remote stopped working a while ago and I’ve been using the remote app on my phone. Now that 2 factor can’t be turned off, I can’t purchase anything making my Apple TV about worthless. When I get the code, it pops up on both my phone and iPad. I enter it using the remote app only to be kicked back to original sign in. Why the **** is this so complicated?

But since I updated my phone to a later version I keep getting a message for the two step verification code but I can’t put the code on my apple TV because I don’t have the remote. Apple TV Remote app on iPhone 7 no longer works I’m now prompted to go to control centre to use the remote for Apple TV . I’m given a verification code to enter into my Apple TV. Not sure how to do that? My iPhone is iPhone 7, Apple TV is older generation and connected to an older “ not- SMART TV”. Is there any way for me to connect anymore? Was really easy using the Apple Remote app on my phone previously!

Apple TV box I want to use an old Apple TV box using apply remote on my iPad. I can not login on the apply tv box it send two factor authentication code to my iPad but there is nowhere to enter the 6 numbers. What can I do?
