Converting HEIC to JPEG

Hi, following a complete collapse of my data (caused by a massive malfunction of time machine) I am trying to collect my broken pieces.....

All over sudden my downloaded HEIC files cannot be viewed, converted or whatsoever where in the old situation my MacBookPro (OS Sierra) offered every lowthreshold functionality to work with this file format and easily convert it. What has happened ? 😰 (I have also read that iPhoto for that purpose has been abolished by Apple....)

Does anybody know how this conversion can easily be achieved/reestablished without again downloading additional free apps ? Photos seems not to do the trick as the format is not accepted....Thanks in advance!

I understand that you’d like to convert HEIC files, and I'm happy to help. To fully view, edit, or duplicate HEIC or HEVC content, you must update your Mac to macOS High Sierra or later as suggested here:

hi Chris,

it seems that I suffered a complete mental software failure myself these past few days. Off course I should have upgrade to High Sierra or even Mojave right from the start as this issue has already been solved ! Stupid me to have reinstalled Sierra after a fatal issue on my harddrive. In the mean time most of the issues have been solved including this one. But nevertheless thank you for your prompt response!

If you cannot update to macOS 10.13 High Sierra or later you can convert your photos using the online converter: https://heictojpg.com
