conversion of m4a to mp3 becomes harder in catalina

Till yesterday in OS mojave we had the option (although a painful one) to export m4a audio clips from itunes to mp3. Now itunes has gone in OS catalina.

So has apple completely blocked a conversion possibility to mp3?

I tried the Finder option "Encode selected audio files" but it fails with an error that some library is not present.

The process hasn't really changed at all. The Music app replaces iTunes for most audio related activity.

In Music use the menu Music > Preferences > Files > Import Settings to select MP3 format.
Select tracks in Music that you want to convert.
Use Files > Convert > Create MP3 Version to start the conversion.
