iCloud and music files

Assume I have music on iTunes on my Mac. Assume I want to access this music using my iPad. Assume my Mac is using iCloud Drive and that my iPad is signed into iCloud. My question: Does all this music load on my iPad, or is it merely accessible when logged into the cloud? I only have a 16 gig iPad, and many, many songs on my Mac, so this is an important concern.

Hi,

You don’t use iCloud Drive to get music on to your iPad.

You need to subscribe to Apple Music or iTunes Match. Music - Apple or Subscribe to iTunes Match - Apple Support or sync your iPad to your computer Sync your iPhone, iPad, or iPod using your computer - Apple Support.
