iphone XS and Mac mini out of sorts?

iPhone 13.1.3 and Mac 10.14.1 - updated iPhone XS and then plugged into Mac. Told me software on Mac was out of sorts with iPhone. I did the download as suggested and restarted and Mac asked again if I want to update the Mac to sync the 2 OS. No idea what was uploaded to Mac and what it wants me to download again. Sure wish I had skipped the iPhone update since I will replace soon. And typical BS when one is living without high speed wifi at home.
