Apple Cash pay expired but funds aren’t back yet?

I transferred my father $200 but he forgot to accept it (even though it states “automatically accept payments” ??!). It’s been a week but the funds have not returned to my card. I tried to retransfer money thinking it would push the push the original money through but it transferred ANOTHER $200. Some insight, please!!! (Currently waiting on hold with apple support—over 20 minutes now...)
