On my iPad when I click on a link a small column appears from the right edge with the opened link. Can I stop this?

My iPad is opening a skinny page on top of the other page when I click on something Recently my iPad is opening a skinny page on top of the other page when I click on something. I hate this. If I click on it all my other pages went away. How do I go about returning to the old way,when I click on some thing it opens up a whole new page. I’m also having problems with things becoming incognito so the pages that were saved on top just disappear. I would love to be able to block incognito [Re-Titled by Moderator]
