Hello Tommycagle,

Try doing the following:

  1. Go to Network Preferences by clicking on the WiFi icon at the top of your screen > Open Network Preferences > Click Advanced in the window > Select your WiFi network and ensure that it is highlighted > Click the minus (-) button to remove the WiFi network. Doing this makes your laptop "forget" your network, don't worry, we will be reconnecting in a couple more steps.
  2. Turn off and unplug your wireless internet router > wait 10 seconds > plug back in and turn on.
  3. Force quit all of your currently running programs on your Mac by going to (at the top left corner) > Force Quit > Force quit all running applications and relaunch the finder.
  4. Shut down your laptop and allow for the computer to completely shut off before touching any of the buttons.
  5. Turn the laptop back on and login.
  6. Try reconnecting to the wifi network of your choosing and enter the password.

Hopefully these steps allow you to restore proper WiFi connection. To test if the WiFi is working, open Safari and try searching for something online.

I hope that I was able to help!
