iMessages on MacBook when SIM card out of iphone

I plan to change my SIM card from my Canadian to a local one in Europe for 2 weeks. I currently receive my iMessages associated with my Canadian iphone number on my MacBook . When I take my Canadian SIM card out of my iphone in Europe, will I still be able to receive my Canadian iMessages on my MacBook, or should I put an automated message on my iMessages, asking friends to communicate with me some other way such as WhatsApp or something...

Hello Fastmurry,

Thank you for using Apple Support Communities! I understand from the information you provided that you want to know if you will continue to receive your iMessages on your MacBook if you swap out the SIM card in your iPhone; I'd like to help.

As long as you're signed into your Apple ID on your Mac, and your Mac has an internet connection, you will continue to receive your iMessages. Text messages are different. You will only receive text messages on your Mac if your iPhone also receives those text messages. Here's a resource that could help:

How to forward SMS/MMS text messages from your iPhone to your iPad, iPod touch or Mac

Hope this helps.

Best Regards.
