Transfer iTunes music and Movies from an external hard drive

Hey,

I have all my iTunes music and movies on an external hard drive off my windows pc. I now have a MacBook Air. How do I transfer it so that I don’t have to go through the slow process of downloading it all again?

Transfer complete iTunes library from one PC to another How do I transfer my entire iTunes library (songs, album artwork, playlists, star ratings, play count, etc.) from one pc to another? I was able to back up my music to an external hard drive and then transfer to my new pc laptop, but all of my song star ratings and playlists are gone... is there a way to retrieve that info?
