Identification of hardware being used by a poster on the ASC

Hello

At the end of this recent (example) post, it shows that the poster is using ...... iMac 27", macOS 10.15

https://discussions.apple.com/thread/250786863

I've noticed that not ALL posts have such helpful information.

Can anyone explain why some posts do - and other posts do not, include the equipment being used?

When creating a Discussion a selection of devices will appear along with "What device is this about?"

The list is populated from the devices using that Apple ID. Some (most) people either disregard that choice, don't know what it means, or hasn't updated their product information in https://appleid.apple.com/

Ah ha! 🙄 Thanks for explaining what you meant, Keith. I now understand.

I'm sure there was a time when one's devices WERE shown in one's ASC profile but, sadly, they are no longer published.

When making a post nowadays, one is asked to answer "What device is this about?" and "What topic is this related to?"

If you select to answer, it shows up beneath your post. If you don't ........ it doesn't! 😉

Cheers!

David
