Cellular Data for Photos activated, but not working.

I have turned on Cellular Data on PhotoApp to automatically transfer my Photos to My Photo Share, but it is not working when I'm not in Wi-Fi (using Cellular Data only).

I have already turned on and off restarting the iPhone, but it still not working.

Does anybody have a clue to make it work again (it was working fine before iOS 13 upgrade).

Thanks.

J.D.

Hey there Jradantas,

Thanks for reaching out to Apple Support Communities. I understand you’re having issues using Photos over cellular data. I’ll be happy to help with this.

Go to Settings > Cellular and turn Photos off. Back up your iPhone and reinstall iOS using the steps from these links:

How to back up your iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch

If you can't update or restore your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch

Turn Settings > Cellular > Photos back on and test once more.

If that doesn’t help, go to Settings > General > Date & Time and make sure it’s set correctly. Turn on Set Automatically if that’s not on.

Turn on Airplane Mode in Settings and wait about 30 seconds. Turn that off and see test Photos over cellular again.

Let us know if that helps.

Hi Jradantas ,

Thanks for the update. Let's check a few things. When trying to upload photos to the iCloud, are you currently charging? If not, connect your iPhone to a charger and see if it will upload then.

How much storage space do you have on both your iPhone and iCloud? How to check the storage on your iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch

To confirm a few other things, did you reinstall the iOS?

When viewing your cellular settings for iCloud, did you turn on Unlimited Updates? If this isn't turned on and you're close to your cellular data limit, iCloud Photos won't upload.

If you’re still having issues after that, you can reach out to Apple Support using this link so they can look into this with you as well:

I found a screenshot of the setting you refer to. I don't see it saying "automatic" anywhere. I don't believe any of the Apple photo apps provide automatic uploads to a shared album. I don't know why or how it worked before.

The setting seems to just restrict uploads to either wifi only or both wifi and cellular data.

Are you perhaps thinking of My Photo Stream?

Hi i_rina,

I did the procedure twice on my iPhone X, but unfortunately it is still not working. Only works when I join a Wifi connection.

The strange thing is that I have compared with another 2 iPhones from my family and the problem is happening on all 3 devices (one of them still with iOS 12.4.3). When we take pictures, they only goes to iCloud Shared Photo folder when we join a WiFi. They don't "sync" the we are over celular data (LTE/4.5G/4G/3G).

Do you have any other clue on how to solve it?

Thanks for your support.

Hi barberlives123,

I tried to upload to iCloud connected to an outlet. Still didn't work. I think this is not a good test considering that I want iPhone to automatically upload the photos to My Shared Photos folder when using Celular Data.

I have more than 20 GB available on iCloud and more than 60 GB on my iPhone.

Yes, I have already reinstalled the iOS as I have explained on my previous message.

Regarding Unlimited Updates options I tried with this option on and also off, but still didn't work.

I still need a clue on how to solve it or I need to know if Apple will deliver a fix to this issue soon.

Thanks.
