MacBook Pro 10.10.5 Late 2008 Model,Yosemite Upgrade??

Can I upgrade from Yosemite, currently I Tunes does not allow me to sync a phone until I can upgrade.

A MacBook Pro from 2008 can only upgrade as far as 10.11.6 El Capitan,
