I have just bought a new iPod Classic 7th generation but when I tried to sync with iTunes nothing happened. No music on my new iPod.
See Sync your iPhone, iPad, or iPod using your computer - Apple Support. Connecting the device alone isn't enough to add content to it. If your music is in your library why did you bring up the idea of transferring it from the old device?

Apple don't support direct device to device transfer except when migrating between newer iOS devices. If your media isn't in your library see the first section of Corrupt iPod Classic - Apple Community for recovery advice.

Thanks but I wasn't going to transfer from old iPod to new one as the old one is broken. I opened iTunes on my laptop and connected the iPod. After a long time I disconnected it. No music on the iPod.
I have checked and I have the most recent version of iTunes. I can't transfer music from my old iPod because it isn't working.
I brought it up in case someone told me to do that. Thanks for this.
