Cyberlink Power DVD program alternative for Mac
Anyone using a good Mac alternative to Cyberlink Power DVD? I have family photos DVDs made with a PC that I cannot view on my Mac. Thanks.
MacBook Air 13", macOS 10.14

Maybe I can help you, raininghere. If the DVD was burnt as a regular video DVD, e.g; slideshow, then Apple DVD should be able to open and play it, or VLC. You may have to do a get info on it when you insert it into your dvd drive, which I'm presuming is an external one (Macs don't seem to come with built in DVD drives anymore, not laptop/notebooks or desktop Macs) , and in Finder under Preferences, make sure that show CD/DVD is ticked off (show items on Desktop). Under the "Get Info" window, where it says "Open With" Choose Apple DVD player or VLC.
If it was burned as a data DVD, then see if Photos will open it.
There are many DVD burning programs out there for Mac that will allow you to take photos and make your own slideshow.
Whether or not they are any good, I can't say, having never used them. I used to use iDVD, but I'm not sure if that's even available anymore. Believe it or not, Apple gave away for free with each new Mac, a copy of its iWork suite (this was back in 2009) which was very handy. i don't even know if iDVD will work anymore. It might still be available on the App Store, but I'm not sure about that.
I don't think you want to make a slideshow of family photos, but you do want to view the ones that you have now.
again, it depends on how the DVD disc was burnt.
just my 2 cents anyways
