iPhone 5s can’t updating apps in App Store

I acquired my iphone 5s from a friend. I have cleared all accounts and passwords, and added my own apple ID. When I try to update an app, it asks for the password of some other Apple ID. Why and how do i solve this to update my apps? I’ve searched the phone and accounts. No other accounts are linked to mine, or are used on this phone. I do think the Apple ID that it’s asking for, is from a previous owner, but that doesn’t explain why it’s asking for their password while I’m signed into my account.

A request for another Apple ID password is often caused by updates to apps/purchases that were made when using the other ID. Those purchases are tied to the other ID and can't be transferred. One option is to delete the apps/purchases made by the other ID and download them using the new ID if desired. If necessary, check your purchases history to see which apps/purchases weren’t made by the current ID.

That worked perfectly actually. Thank you very much! While I it you here though, there is only one more issue I’ve encountered on this phone... when I got to the iTunes WiFi sync, it says sync will continue when connected to Marilyn PC.. I haven’t a clue what PC is Marilyn’s, but I am unable to sync my device to my iTunes. Not really an issue considering I don’t use iTunes, but I figure I’d ask. To be quite frank, the only things I really enjoy about iPhones thus far, is the toggle lock to silence the phone and their privacy policy. This is my first IPhone, and I’m not all that impressed by the overall user friendliness or navigation of the device itself (including the majority of the intricacies that IOS entails.). Thank you again! If you have any advice on my secondary inquiry, I’m all ears! Good work my friend!
