No camera information - No lens information
Hello everybody,
I have a very annoying issue on Photos for Mac since I upgraded to Catalina.
I have an iPhone, a Mac Mini, and an iMac Pro. All of them are connected using my iCloud Photo Library.
Few of my old pictures are now shown with "No camera information - No lens information". The real problem is that it happens also with all my new pictures taken with my Sony a7 Mark 3.
But because these are RAW, if I go to "File > Export > Export unmodified original", and reimport them again. Tadam! Everything looks like nominal…
Except it doesn't.
If I do this operation on my iMac, the synced pictures mill still be "No camera information - No lens information" on my Mac Mini for example. It's the same the other way around.
If I import a new freshly taken picture on my iMac, it will not show the camera on the Mac Mini. If I import a picture on the Mac Mini, it will not show the camera information on the iMac. If I import a new picture on my iPhone, it will not show the camera information on any of the Mac.
I created an "Empty camera model" smart album on my Macs to be able to monitor that thing, and it drives me crazy ! Every new picture is not shown as it should. The RAWs are here with all the datas in it, it's just that Photo don't want to display them. I don't understand.
So I tried to repair Photos. Didn't change a thing.
I deleted all my Photos Library on both my Macs, to download everything back from iCloud. Nothing.
Ir worked perfectly with Mojave, of course. Abviously, Catalina broke a thing or two, and I can't believe I'm the only one with that problem on the internet.
If you have any idea…
(I will contact Apple Support by phone today, but in France the quality of the support is not that good).
