Books won't sync from MacBook Air to iPad

Hi everyone,

Since the last MacOS update, Books haven't been syncing properly between my Mac and my iPad. All of the books can be opened in the Books app on Mac, however, they won't appear on iPad, even after syncing multiple times. I also tried turning "Sync books to iPad" in Finder on and off, but it didn't work. The PDF files still show up on the iPad, but I can't get the books (epub) to sync.

Any idea how to solve this?

I wish I knew how to solve this as well. I have the exact same problem occurring between my iPad Air 2 running iOS 13.2 and my iMac running Catalina 10.15.1. I also don't backup books to iCloud, and the only files that sync now are PDFs. This happened even when I deleted Books from the iPad and reuploaded it. One of the only reasons I updated to Catalina was the profound problems I was having syncing my entire library all at one time to Books, and now this happens? I am growing more and more disappointed in Apple with each passing day, sigh.

Same problem, and turning on/off the iCloud Drive sync preference doesn't help, nor did deleting the books from my iPad then forcing a re-sync/download.. The books simply won't sync. Only difference in my case and the OP is that my books show up on my iPad, but won't open. When I click on the ... and select 'Download', the book never downloads. I bought a bunch of ebooks on Black Friday (not from Apple, but *.epub just the same), and no luck syncing them. Very annoying.
