Touch ID/ Biometrics error 16

My Touch ID doesn't work anymore all of a sudden on my MacBook Pro. I can delete the old fingerprint ID. But I am not able to log in a new fingerprint. It keeps on telling me that there is a Biometrics error 16.


I am not able to find anything helpful about that either.

First, start up your Mac in safe mode: Use safe mode to isolate issues with your Mac.


Next try enrolling a fingerprint using a different user account: How to test an issue in another user account on your Mac.


Finally, reset the SMC: How to reset the System Management Controller (SMC) on your Mac.
