How do I remove my old phone number off imessage? It keeps saying it will send a code but old phone number is no longer in use so where does the code go to? Can’t take my old phone number off my old phone or off my iPad from iMessages...help!

unfortunately, i wasn’t able to remove it through settings. After I input the number I wanted removed, it said it would send a code for to me to proceed. Where that code was supposed to go, as I already gave up the number, I have no idea...but I did sign out of my Apple id of all my devices that I use iMessage and resigned in. When I did that, the old number was gone so that seemed to do the trick! :)
