accidental unplug during back up

Asking for a friend actually. His cable was accidentally unplugged during back up, and now the cable does not work anymore, i.e. when he plugged in to the computer again, the iphone could not be charged nor be detected on the computer. It can be charged directly from charger though.

Hope someone can advise. Thank you!

The regular usb chargers used to work, but one day after my phone had updated, stopped working all together. This also means I cannot plug my phone into my computer to back up to iTunes without buying an adapter. Help with my iPhone13ProMax and charging on my iMac HELP How do I get my iPhone back?? I have it plugged into my iMac to "charge" - now the screen is BLACK and it has a drawing of a cord pointing toward a laptop. I has support.apple.com/iphone/restlore at the top. BUT I can't get it to do ANYTHING now!! My iMac is "old" (13 years) and is running High Sierra 10.13.6 my cellphone is an iPhone 13ProMax. HELP I am totally WITHOUT a phone now!!

Cable cannot get damaged if you unplug during backup. However please look into this --> Identify counterfeit or uncertified Lightning connector ...

Original apple cable was used so was wondering why too. Thanks for reply anyway.
