HomePod not giving me the weather

Hi

I have a issue where if I ask Siri on HomePod todays weather, I get the following reply

"I can't get your favourite weather locations, sorry about that"

I'm on latest 13.2.1

I have tried rebooting, complete reset, switching location services off and on again within the HomePod settings.

If I ask Siri "where am I" I get my rough location, so location services seem to be ok but Siri seems to struggle to give me the weather.

I'm a bit stuck on what to try next, could be a setting, but I haven't changed anything as far as Im aware.

I don't ask siri that much for the weather, but it has worked in the past when I have, but that was a while back on earlier iOS versions.

Thanks for any help

Hi, I was able to at least temporarily resolve the issue. Basically, the voice recognition feature of the HomePod is buggy and/or not working properly on the HomePod in the very last update (iOS 13.2.1). You will need to disable it.

  1. Use a device that has iOS 13.2 installed (iPhone or iPad). I used my iPad (which has iOS 13.2 installed).
  2. Open the Home app.
  3. Click on the Home icon in the top left corner.
  4. Under 'People', select yourself or the icon of the person having the problem.
  5. Under 'Siri', slide the 'Recognize My Voice' icon to 'off.'
  6. Click the 'Done' button in the Home app.

Once I did that, all my HomePods were able to get the weather and temperature again. Hope that helps.

I am having the exact same issue. Never had a problem until after updating to 13.2.1 on the HomePod.

When I ask, 'Hey Siri, what is the temperature?' or 'Hey Siri, what is the weather?' - it responds with:

"I can't get your favorite weather locations, sorry about that."

I tried turning off "location services" and then turned "location services" back on via the Home app for the Homepod via my iPhone.

Not sure if it is related but my iPhone is currently an iPhone 6 (it can't run iOS 13 - currently running iOS 12.4.3) - although have an iPad running iOS 13.

Interestingly, I had another person ask the weather on the same HomePod and it worked fine so initially suspected it was my iPhone or something tied to my personal settings. Then a few hours later, had the same person issue the same weather voice command to Siri and they received the same message back "I can't get your favorite weather locations, sorry about that."

Also, another HomePod in a different room responded earlier in the morning with the correct weather, then a few hours later now reports "I can't get your favorite weather locations, sorry about that."

Hi

Thanks for responding, interesting. I don't think it's anything to do with other devices on older software, all my devices are on latest iOS 13.2.

It sounds like it could be a bug in 13.2.1, I guess we can hope the next update might solve it.

If you fix it in the mean time, I would be grateful if you let me know, likewise I will update this thread if I manage to solve it.

Thanks

I was experiencing the same issue on all of my HomePods after upgrading to 13.2.1. It seemed to have something to do with voice recognition, as Siri responded normally (as expected) when my roommate asked the same weather related questions. I fumbled with Personal Requests and Location Services settings in the Home app to no avail. Interestingly, the trouble seemed to be exclusive to locations I had saved as favorites in the Weather app on my iPhone.

When I launched the Weather app on my iPhone, the trouble magically cleared! Give that a try. I'll be curious to see if that works for anyone else.
