HomePod Mini temperature doesn't follow default of Farhenheit

Recently purchased my first Homepod mini. When I ask Siri the weather the homepod mini always tells the temperature in Celsius.

I have searched how to change the default and everything seems correct:

  1. iPhone settings (General/Language & Region) Region: United States, Temperature Unit: F
  2. Weather App: Opened and looking at the bottom to make sure the setting is in F
  3. Weather.com: Went to the website in Safari and made sure the settings for temperature unit is F

Another solution I am finding from Apple Support is to ask the Homepod for the weather in Fahrenheit. I read that, eventually, Siri will learn I prefer Farhenheit. Days of asking for the temperature in Fahrenheit have not changed the Homepod. I start each day asking for the weather and Siri always starts with Celcius. Asking for Farhenheit doesn't change anything permanently.

When I ask my Iphone, Siri answers with Farhenheit.

When I ask my Imac, Siri answers with Farhenheit.

Everywhere in my life (websites, computers, phones) the weather in Farhenheit and every setting I can find in my life has my region in the USA and my preferred temperature unit in Farhenheit....

Why doesn't the Homepod mini?

Do I really have to ask the Homepod to tell me the weather in Farhenheit each time I ask? Really??

The Homepod mini is being returned if I cannot find a solution because this is very annoying.

I have been told to go with a different wireless speaker manufacturer that allows for more customization, such as Alexa or the Echo.

First, check that HomePod has the latest software loaded. Then try setting your associated iPhone to Celsius in the weather app, setting the HomePod location services to on (if already on, toggle off and back on again), rebooting the HomePod, then setting everything back to Fahrenheit, and testing again. My options are all set to metric, so I expect (and do get) Celsius.

It should follow the language and your region

Assuming you set all HomePods up with same device, ie iPhone? if you got a new iPhone since set up, you should reset the mini, then set up again. Or just reset it anyways if none of these steps help.

  • In HomePod settings via the Home App - toggle Location services off then back on. Also make sure the language is English United States

  • On the device you used to set up HomePod - Settings - General - Language & Region
  • On this device Location services enabled for Homepod - Settings- Your Name (Apple ID) - Find My - Share my Location. If it was on, toggle it off, then back on. See image:

I think we need to address your iPhone about this:

  • On your iPhone in language & Region , switch it (by toggling - slide it) to C .
  • In Settings > General > Reset > Reset Network Settings - this will restart your iPhone and you will need to add your wifi network back.
  • Once you’re iPhone is back on wifi. Toggle it back to F

See if that helps

Assuming also when you set it up again you agreed to transfer all settings to HomePods - making sure it worked when you held the iPhone over the swirling white circle

Make sure Bluetooth and keychain is enabled on all devices (I’ve signed out before on one and my Mac turned keychain off, once I enabled keychain the HomePod worked again)

  • Make sure your Apple ID is signed in on Homepod settings - you can sign out in that , then sign in again - check Bluetooth and keychain again on all devices

Otherwise try a reset by just removing the HomePod - then set it up again.

None of that worked.

When you toggle location services OFF on the Homepod Mini and ask for the weather it doesn't know where you want. I thought it was connected to my iPhones settings/location but apparently, it needs to be on and know its own location.

Homepod was already updated with the latest software:

I changed iPhone location AND Weather.com to C. Then rebooted/restarted the Homepod Mini AND my Iphone. Then I changed everything BACK to F and rebooted and restarted everything again. That did not work.

Weather.com app:

Here is the iPhone location service:

If I ask my iPhone for the weather, it tells me in Farenheit. If I ask the Homepod Mini it tells me C unless I say "tell me the weather in Farenheit". It will tell me, but the next morning it is back to C.

I am going to give the Homepod Mini away to my friends 10 year old who wants to use it for music and doesn't care if the Homepod can do anything else.

I am using Alexa now and it works great. It knows I do not live in Canada.

Thanks anyway.

I set up all HomePods with the same iPhone. I have not gotten a new iPhone (2 years) but just purchases the Homepod Mini two months ago. All apps, websites, and settings on the iPhone are set to Fahrenheit and have always been Fahrenheit.

I removed the accessory from the iPhone and the Home App, then I performed a factory reset on the Homepod Mini (holding the button down until it tells you it will factory reset after three beeps). I then followed the setup process again.

After setup, I asked for the weather and the Homepod used Fahrenheit! I was so excited, thinking the problem was solved! Ten minutes later I asked again and the Homepod was back to telling the weather in Celcius. If I ask the iPhone, the weather is always Fahrenheit.

I asked the Homepod for the weather in Fahrenheit a moment ago. Then I asked again five minutes later and the Homepod is already back to Celcius.

I went to www.weatherchannel.com (where the Homepod Mini tells me it gets the weather information) on my iPhone and the website is in Fahrenheit. The apps and widgets are in Fahrenheit.
