I can't access Microsoft after Catalina update

I have Microsoft on my Macbook Pro and have used it for years to create documents, resumes, spreadsheets, etc. I updated my Macbook yesterday to the new OS Catalina and now I can no longer access Microsoft. It allows me to open Microsoft Word, but allows "view only" access. With this, I can view my previously saved documents but can no longer make changes or copy and paste from them. When I try to login to my Microsoft account it denies me access and gives me the message "there is a problem with your account, please try again later". Any advice how to solve this issue?

Any MS Office version earlier than 2016 will not work with Catalina. They are all 32 bit and Catalina requires 64 bit. The versions that are compatible are 2016 (with last update), 365 and 2019.

What version of MS Office do you have?
