How to turn off pace alert while outdoor running without restarting workout?

Just bought an Apple Series 5 in addition to my Garmin 625. So many areas that it doesn't have as compared to Garmin, or maybe I've yet to discover them. I have 2 questions and hope someone can help me.

1) how I can "turn off" or change the pace alert without the need to restart workout during run?

2) I noticed that the max setting I could select is 7min 30 sec for pace setting. How can I increase this to 8min or more? I'm an elderly and I'm a slow runner.

Thank you in advance.

Hi Singapore_Mark,

Thank you for using the Apple Support Communities! I understand you are seeking more information about using the pace alert during our Outdoor Run workout. I am happy to answer your questions.

You'll find more information outlined in this support article here: Run with your Apple Watch - Apple Support. Pace alerts are available for Outdoor Run only. They can only be set up prior to the workout, and cannot be adjusted in the middle of a workout. The maximum pace alert can be set for up to 12 minutes.

To set a pace alert:

  1. Open the Workout app on your watch.
  2. Scroll to Outdoor Run.
  3. Tap the More button  and scroll down, tap Set Alert. From there you can choose up between 5-12 minutes, and set it for either Average or Rolling. This is also where you will see the option to turn pace alert Off.

It sounds like you're still getting to know your Apple Watch as well, so I wanted to share the Apple Watch User Guide here: Apple Watch User Guide - Apple Support, as you may find it helpful for future use.

Thank you for your post!

Take care.

Oh my apologies. I mistakenly took your answer "more" as something that had a "more"wordings. Yes, I clicked on the "3 dots" (which is the more button). 4 types of icons appear. Open, calories, distance and pace. Scrolling the screen up, there's the pace selection preset from 03:00 to 7:30mins maximum. Further down, I have the Average, rolling and off selections.

I'm still not able to change the pace.
