If you have tried a another AC wall socket and the base station still will not power on......it is dead.

Which model of AirPort do you have? If it is one of the older "flat" or "square" versions that look like a small white pizza box, these versions use an outboard power supply "brick", which may have failed. If that is the case, then a replacement power supply brick might bring back a little more life for the base station.

I'm having the same problem. Airport Extreme base station working fine yesterday. But today the Power status light stays off, even when plugged into a working outlet. However status lights above each ethernet port blink green constantly. Airport Utility does not find the airport extreme base station and trying to reset the Airport Extreme does not work.

That sounds like typical power failure on one of the voltage rails inside the Airport.

As Bob asked previously.. what model.. as that is vital to know what to suggest for fixing it.

Certainly if it is old, Gen1-4 it is simply time to buy a new router.. They are now 8-10 years old.. well beyond lifespan of normal routers.

If you are really desperate to get it working a replacement 12v power supply might help.. if you have any in the house from 12-16v and 1A or more it will work. I do not think it worthwhile to buy a replacement supply new.

Gen5 can have power supply or board problems.. and Tower model is just problematic. If tower AC model how old is it?

Thank you for your response LaPastenague. My Airport Extreme is Model A1143 -- it has "2006 Apple Computer" engraved on the bottom (its the flat, square model). Given it's age, it may be time to get a new router. What would you recommend? We use it to network two Mac laptops, wi-fi access for two Apple Phones, an HP printer, and Internet modem.

I would suggest any wireless router from either Asus or Synology should work fine with your equipment and a good starting point for comparison with other models.
