My Apple Base Station is not working. I've tried unplugging it and plugging it back in after 45 seconds to no avail. Suggestions?

Unfortunately, the symptoms that you are describing indicate that the internal power supply of the AirPort Extreme has failed.

Apple did not design the product for service, so repairs.....even if they were possible......would probably cost more than the original price of the AirPort Extreme.

If the AirPort is 5+ years old, there are other things that tend to start acting up as the device ages, so your best bet would be to retire the AirPort and replace it with another router.

Apple stopped offering the AirPort Extreme more that 3 years ago, but if you want to stay with an Apple product, there are usually some refurbished products available on Ebay or Amazon.

Otherwise, most users would do well to use a router that is offered by their Internet Service Provider since it will be basically preconfigured to work with your provider's service.

Thanks for taking the time to respond. I noticed our router wasn't working when the wifi network wasn't showing up on my computer. I checked the Base Station and noticed no lights on. I unplugged it to reset it (45 seconds). When I plugged it back in, initially an amber light came on, followed by a green light for about 10 seconds, then it went back to amber, then the light went out completely. I tried this several times with the same result. It is an AirPort Extreme Base Station that we have had for several years. I think the model number is A1521 (very small print on the bottom of the device).
