why is my iphone camera generating so many .aae files?

I understand .aae files are some sort of "edit" file. But I am not editing anything. I snap a bunch of photos on my iphone8, download them to my mac mini and when I open them in Adobe Bridge, there are so many .aae files. This is a fairly new occurence. Previously I would get one or two every now and then - now there looks like there are 2 .aae files created for each photos taken.

AAE file how to open? i have physically downloaded a bunch of photos from my. phone to my iMac but the photo app will not allow me to view the AAE files.. some of them are jpeg some of them are high efficiency and then some of them are are files.. i need to know how i can stop my iPhone from creating images in AAE file format or how to convert them once they are on my iMac.. because again the native photo app does not open them at all.

The Camera app shows old photos instead of most recent on iPhone X. The Camera app shows old photos (imported from other device "iPhone 7") instead of most recent recently capture photos on iPhone X, can the anyone help to resolve the issue.
