AirPods Pro -pressurized feeling

In doing research into the AirPods pro it was my understanding that one of the new features was a vent that was supposed to prevent the pressurized feeling that usually accompanies in-ear earbuds. I’ve watched multiple reviews and they all claim that it works. Am I the only one that still gets an intense pressurized sensation while using the AirPods pro? I also hear the loud thumping as I’m running and when I talk I can hear my own voice as if I plugged my ears or had a bad head cold. Additionally everyone is raving about the sound but to me everything just sounds kinda muffled. Likely related to the fact that I feel like I’m under 10 feet of water.

I have exactly the same issue. I’ve tried all three size tips, the smaller fit is most comfortable and also the one where I feel less underwater, but at the same time the noise reduction is less. I’m currently using the medium to watch movies on my iPad, but the minute I get a call I have to turn them off, they just don’t work for phone calls.

and for those who said that all noise isolation earbuds give you that underwater pressurized feeling, I’d argue that I have the Bose QC20 and they don’t do that. I’ve tried everything. Paired, re-paired, every mode possible, they basically just work great for listening in a noisy environment (think airplane or train, not loud people, you can still hear them) if you can deal with the very annoying pressure, but are throwaway for phone calls, even in transparency mode. Also, by the way, don’t even think of eating something crunchy while wearing them, it sounds like you’re fracturing your skull as you go.

True story.

Quick update: Today I actually tried the smaller eartips and the experience was much better. Of course, they fail the sealing test and the overall experience is closer (but still way better) to the original AirPods. With the smaller tips they still stay in your ears just as well. As someone who bikes and runs a lot where there is traffic I really don’t mind being able to hear a little and I can always switch back into the larger tips while on a plane to get the total blocking of sound. At least I don’t have the thumping and pressure buildup like before.

Hope this helps.

I was noticing this as well. It's that seal that causes the thumping and it is super annoying. Tried the smaller tips and while the thumping is reduced it is still there. But without the good seal the sound quality takes a drastic hit. The medium tips make these sound fantastic, but I'm not sure I can live with that thumping. Part of what I bought these for is running and hearing my footsteps like that ever time I take a step makes me think these are not for me. The OG Airpods may not sound great, but they aren't annoying like these. What a shame because I love the way these sound and love the sound isolation.

I had the same problem with the AirPods pro but as I have no experience of the earlier versions I cannot compare. I find that sometimes the ‘thump, thump, thump’ is there when I am jogging and sometimes it isn’t. This is the case even when they are in transparency mode. I have come to the conclusion that it depends how you put them in your ear. Sometimes pushing them In quickly creates pressure behind the seal. Try moving them around in your ear to release the pressure when the problem is experienced.
