Unable to claim free Apple TV +

Purchased a brand new Apple TV 4K 32Gb from an Apple authorised reseller on 30-Sep-2019. It should have qualified me for the free Apple TV + service at launch for 12 months. All attempts to claim the free subscription failed miserably, despite following all help suggestions on the net.

Tried calling Apple support, who contacted me within 2 minutes of registering the fault. The support specialist cut the call as we were trying to confirm my security details.

Have given up trying. Will live without Apple TV + - Hopeless Apple!!!!!!

Not feeling as defeatist today, I tried calling Apple Support again.

I spoke to a supervisor in the Apple support team called France. She asked that I send a copy of the purchase receipt to the support team with the Apple Case Number. France confirmed that my purchase was valid for 12 months free subscription to the Apple TV + product. She supplied me with an Apple App Store redemption code which I input via "Redeem Gift Card or Code" on my iPhone. Success - I now have 12 months free subscription.
