With the upgrade to IOS 13, Siri does not respond any time that Google Maps is actively showing directions. In contrast, Siri does respond to Hey Siri when Apple Maps is giving directions.
This change dramatically reduces the ability to operate hands-free while driving and using directions from Google Maps.
Is this change a mistake or a permanent change?

I understand that Hey Siri isn't working when currently using Maps or Google Maps for directions. I'd like to help. Just to check, does Hey Siri work without Maps and are you letting Siri finish speaking in Maps before saying the phrase? I would also go through these steps when Hey Siri isn't working: If Siri or "Hey Siri" isn't working
