Question

how to enable TLS 1.2 on El capitan os x ?

I would like to know how to enable the TLS1.2 on El Capitan or if TLS1.2 are supported on El Capitan and the Mail app.

The reason is that we have an issue and not receiving emails with mail app but we can receive with Thunderbird mail app.

The hosting company that provide our mail servers told us that it must be a Mac mail client issue with TLS 1.2

mac mail version : 9.3 mac os x version : 10.11.6

Can anyone help please?

generally speaking if it is not supported after applying the last security update for 10.11.6, it is not supported by Apple's Apps on that operating system. Here is that security update:

A work-around for email when the macOS cannot be upgraded, is to get

and use a 'supported third-party email client' software instead, such as the

present version Thunderbird (mozilla) that can run independent of the status

where El Capitan now does not have further update to the TLS component.
