How to get rid of double tap drag release delay?

I just got a MacBook Pro a couple days ago. On Windows when you double tap and drag something and then release your finger, it instantly releases what you're dragging. But on macOS (I'm on Catalina 10.15.1) when you release it it has a .5 second delay and from what I know there's no way to adjust that or turn it off. I have drag lock off. Does anyone have a solution to this? I understand why some people would like this and it is kinda useful in some situations but for me it is EXTREMELY annoying 95% of the time. It's probably one of the most annoying things about switching from windows to macOS so far. I understand that people might like it because sometimes when you drag something across the screen the trackpad isnt big enough and you have to release your finger to keep dragging to where you want, but in windows they fix that by if you hold your finger at the edge of the trackpad it continues to drag. It works perfectly. Apple should take notes. I've searched the internet for a solution but I couldn’t find any that work anymore. There is an old post on MacRumors that had a couple solutions like installing BetterTouchTools but they dont really work anymore. If there is still a way to do it on BetterTouchTools I would love to know. If there are any other better or easier solutions please let me know.
