loading Skype to my MacBook
Hi can anyone help I am trying to load Skype to my MacBook but keep getting this message

Thanks for letting me know what you've tried. It helps.
Try right clicking the Skype app in your Applications folder and come down to open and see if that works.
You can also check System Preferences > Security and Privacy > General, there you should see an option to open the app.
The message you are receiving is due to an update in the way that gatekeeper works on MacOS Catalina.
What It’s looking for is notarization of the app. It’s effectively a certificate of good standing that is obtained by the developer from Apple to check for malicious code which is then attached to the app. It’s one step further than having a app signed with a developer certification.

I would download a new copy of Skype from skype.com which will be the latest version.
Once downloaded, drag the icon to your applications folder to replace the older version. Open the new version and your issue should be resolved.
