SMB Server showing connected disk as inaccessible even though the user has permissions to view the folder

I have a SMB server running on a raspberry pi with a bunch of connected disks mounted in a folder on the device.

The folders that the disk are mounted on are inaccessible from finder, but the user still has permissions to access the folder.

I can not open the folder when I should

Accessing the contents of the folder works in terminal, but when I try to open it in finder, this happens:r, this happens:

I can not open it in finder

The only way I can unlock the folder is if I open the folder with terminal (open /Volumes/....) or if I create a new file in the folder with terminal while finder is viewing the enclosing folder.

I can not find any information about this anywhere, I have also tried removing all the files that mac creates on an external disk (Spotlight-V100, Trashes, fseventsd, etc), but it still gets locked when I unmount and remount the disk. Unmounting the disk unlocks it, but when I remount it, it locks again. Mounting the disk while finder has the folder open results in the window changing to the top most directory (like when you disconnect a disk with a finder window viewing it's contents).

Thanks to carterx for this solution: using cifs:// instead of smb://
