Is there a difference between Apple Homekit and AirPlay 2?

I am looking to invest in a new TV. My desire is the TV be controlled through Homekit (setting up scenes to turn on and off with lights as well). AirPlay 2 seems to be more about sharing from an Apple device. I want to invest in a tv that will integrate well with Homekit. Many 2019 TVs are AirPlay 2 compatible. What does that mean for Homekit though?
