cant reset iphone because of incorrect password but its not

Can’t do a complete reset on my iphone because of incorrect password but its not incorrect. I put in the correct passcode to access the phone which is also the passcode for my Apple ID. I thought it might be because I hadn’t updated the phone. I did that. By doing that I needed to put in my passcode, no problem. I’ve tried with and without the original SIM card. Disclosure, I’m using my daughters old phone since she purchased a new one. The old phone is an iPhone 8plus.

Hello and welcome to Apple Support Communities, jmufnman!

I understand you're trying to restore your iPhone to factory settings, but you're unable to due to it showing you're entering the incorrect passcode. I'd be happy to provide information that may help you resolve this.

Make sure you're following the steps in this article: Restore your iPhone, iPad, or iPod to factory settings

Also, the iPhone may be asking for the restrictions passcode which may be different from the passcode you use to access your iPhone.

Have a great day!
