on the new Apple TV app in Catalina on my Mac computers, I see the following categories: RECENTLY ADDED, MOVIES, TV SHOWS, HOME VIDEOS
On my AppleTV 4k/Apple TV app, there is no HOME VIDEO category, yet inside my iPhotos app on AppleTV4k, there is a HOME MOVIES category, which the COMPUTER version of AppleTV seems to have mirrored.
I mention that, because the iPhotos and AppleTV on computers appear to share the same ecosystem.
Thoughts?

You need to turn on Home Sharing on the Mac. Where you turn in on depends on which version of Mac OS is installed on the computer. If you are using High Sierra or earlier, open iTunes and Turn on Home Sharing and leave iTunes on. Next, Home Sharing must also be turned on on the Apple TV. Finally both the Mac and Apple TV must be on the same network. Once you have that you can view your Home videos using the the Computer app on your Apple TV.

Make sure your computer and Apple TV are on the same wifi network. That was my problem.
I have the exact same problem too. The only work around I can see if using Airplay to Apple TV. ****** me off though since I've used this functionality and was the leading reason why I got the apple tv in the first place before I had a smart tv.
Home sharing is turned on and active on all devices. that’s step one.

No. Not “everything” I need is in that link. do you work for Apple? BecAuse I don’t think you really get this.
I have followed every step on every device.

Well everything in the link is what you need to successfully setup Home Sharing and view home videos. I know because I followed them and they work perfectly.
However, no I do not work for Apple. We are all end users here volunteering our time to assist other users. Apple does not read or participate in these forums. If you want to speak to an Apple person, you have 2 options.
Home sharing works for me too. This is the point.
what I’m talking about is the total absence of the HOME VIDEO tab in appleTv 4K and all iOS devices.

so, respectfully, if you don’t have experience with this issue, let’s stop now and wait for someone else who has.
I'm having the same issue, but just put the Apple TV app onto my Firestick. Same thing - no Home Videos showing at all as a category. It shows on my computer, but not on the app. I have tried searching online for a while now but no mention of this being a problem or an oversight. Will eagerly be awaiting a response that might help.
I'm having this issue as well. It seems like there are workarounds being offered up that may or may not always do the trick... But the bottom lime is, if the Home Videos successfully appear on my Mac's Apple TV app why are they not showing up on my television's Apple TV app. We shouldn't need to go to iTunes or iPhotos or wherever to correct this. What the heck is the problem?
No corresponding category for HOME VIDEO as shown on my MacBook or iMac.
note: the HOME VIDEO category is also absent from my iOS device.
