Why can I not turn off two-factor authentication? It's a pain!

The two-factor authentication was accidentally turned on and it's a pain in the You Know What! I want if off, but one site told me it can't be turned off. There's no way on God's Green Earth that I will deal with this code crap every single time I want to sign in to something. How can I turn it back off when there's no option to do so?

Thank you!

If you already use two-factor authentication, you can no longer turn it off. Certain features in the latest versions of iOS and macOS require this extra level of security, which is designed to protect your information. If you recently updated your account, you can unenroll for two weeks. Just open your enrollment confirmation email and click the link to return to your previous security settings. Keep in mind, this makes your account less secure and means that you can't use features that require higher security.

It allowed me to change my password but it's still on! I don't know what to do but I'm going insane having to remember 6-digit codes to get in to anything anymore. Especially Ince it's still not doing as I'm desperately attempting to escape from. Thank you anyway! You weren't wrong, your answer just wasn't right for my situation. I turned it on today, around noon and I've been trapped since. I've scheduled a Tech call tomorrow. Cheers!
