First off: Thank you so much for replying. I appreciate your reply more than I can put into words in this comment. People like you who give such thorough answers on forums like this make the world a much better place. I'm going to keep all of that in mind moving forward, but it'll be a bit before I can open the Mac and do anything about it.

Secondly, here's the Etrecheck report, if you could take a look at it and lemme know if there's anything that sticks out (I'm somewhat technologically illiterate) I would really, really appreciate it, again, beyond words.

I'm having the exact same issue. Kernel panic, full shutdown, and then the multi language system shutdown screen. Everything started happening with Catalina. It's a nightmare as I can't get a darn thing down with on my 2015 Macbook Pro. It's been rock solid up till the last month or so. I've reset all the usual and still no change. I had to buy fan control software just to keep the system from overheating as well. Spank up job on Catalina! It would take me days to roll this thing back with all the licensing of apps. Nightmare scenario.

It says "These hardware items are the least likely suspect in kernel panics, but if you just got a new system, and or just installed new memory and you get a kernel panic, that's the most likely place to start looking." in your FAQ, and this isn't a new system (had it for seven years) nor have I installed new memory, so I'm at a loss

Also, this, from what someone told me, has something to do with networking issues on my computer..?

Networking would be more likely if the active application that called the panic did networking itself. The fact it is the CPU generally means it is something tied directly to the CPU. Being an older machine, that could indicate RAM, could indicate the machine’s thermal paste beginning to wear, or could indicate some high end computing program is having trouble. Run Etrecheck and copy its results to see if anything else is suspect. RAM can fail anytime without warning. It is random, and the sequence of registers active could vary enough that you only hit those registers once every few years.

A note about thermal paste on CPUs. Some people try to keep their machines from overheating by changing the paste between the heat sink and CPU, and use temperature monitoring software to see if it can be fixed. This is generally discouraged since Apple does not publish the maximum heat the CPU should take, and such actions are purely arbitrary in their success rate. I have though also seen the fan clogged with dust creating issues for the computer. Blowing the dust out of the fan being careful not to allow static electricity near any of the boards or cables is more likely to be effective.

Puggyboy,

Fan control applications don't work. I suggest starting a new topic thread to identify your crash. Also read my tip on this thread to notice you could be running into a hardware issue. Catalina is an all 64 bit system. Which means more of the CPU is used by the machine than ever before. If the machine is older, that could pose a problem with aging components not just on the CPU but the RAM and the bus as well.
