Catalina bugs accumulated

This is my list of bugs in Catalina so far.

Battery life; by far this one is the most problematic. Before updating the battery lasted between 7-9 hours with my workflow. Catalina has reduced it to 2-3 hours.
Mail app; I have to click the dock icon twice to get Mail visible.
iTunes/Music app; many album covers are missing.
Saved application state is no longer working when connecting my Thunderbolt display.
On shutdown the desktop image changes to default Catalina image. I know that on boot before logging in you get Catalina desktop image, after logging in you get whatever image you have chosen.

Mojave bugs not yet fixed

DVD app; as of version 6 it seems to be in conflict with it self. Starting a new DVD film makes the app hang for several minutes, this also happens several times during playback – or if you try to rewind or fast forward. Using the VLC video app eliminates all those problems.
Thunderbolt display USB ports; are not recognised when connecting the display. I have force shutdown several times and reconnect the external keyboard to make it work. Just reconnecting doesn't work.
Messages app; does not sync with iPhone's blocked numbers list, and also very often puts old replies in the reply text field.

I have been using Mac's since early 90's and in my experience Mac OS has gotten worse and worse since Snow Leopard. It is not plug and play anymore, and certainly not as stable as it used to be.

Anyhow, thoughts on this would be most appreciated.

Have you run and "cleaning", "optimizing", "speedup" or anti-virus apps on your Mac?

I'll try to address the bugs the best I can. Of course, I'm not an Apple employee, so contacting an expert would be best.

Battery life. In my experience, Apple works on the battery life after a software release. Over the next few months, expect incremental improvements in battery life, but I make on promises on time.
Mail app: On my iMac, I only need to tap once to get the Mail app - pretty much the same as before.
Album covers: This wasn't the problem for me, but Catalina seems to have caused chaos on other systems. Manual re-entry is the only option I know, but it's pretty much the same as before.
Saved application state: I can't say anything about this, as I don't use a Thunderbolt display.
Desktop image: Again, I can't speak on this, as I use the Catalina desktop image.

I suggest contacting Apple Support about fixing the Mail app and Saved Application State; their phone support is pretty fast. Battery life is another issue. I don't know how much power improvement you can expect, or how long it would expect. Certainly, Mojave is more usable, battery-wise, but backgrading requires careful preparation and attention to detail.
