64 Bit Compatible All in Ones

Does Apple provide a list for printers that are compatible with Catalina? I am debating replacing my document scanner and laser printer with an all in one and want it to be 64 bit compatible. I have a Canon DR-C125 document scanner that is hit or miss on Mojave and do not trust Canon or it's site. Multiple attempts at resolution with no success. My printer is a Brother and works fine but OLD. So, my choice is see if Apple has any input or check other providers sites and hope the AIO works.

Thanks for any input.

Apple does provide a list of printers from different vendors that are AirPrint compatible. AirPrint is an Apple solution that allows networked printer functionality without vendor drivers. AirPrint does not offer scanning features though, and that would remain a vendor responsibility, or in the absence of it, the paid, 64-bit VueScan product may support the scanner without vendor drivers.

The reason why people are staying away from your question is because the issue is still a little foggy. There's no list of Catalina-compatible printers and scanners because some devices are only waiting for drivers to be written.

According to my research, Brother's hardware is 64bit. I just purchased a Canon TS8320, so I know that All-In-One works. If you buy a printer on Apple's website, they'll all be 64bit capable.

That information is not correct.

I currently have a canon TS9150. It worked perfectly, both for scanning and printing using AirPrint under Mojave.

Now, having done a fresh install of Catalina, it will only print. Trying to scan via System Preferences / Printers & Scanners or using Image Capture results in a "Failed To Open A Connection To The Device (-21355) error.

Using VueScan and the IOS app results in the scanner performing as expected.

Therefore, there is an issue with Catalina internals and the built in scanning functionality.
