this movie can only be played on displays that support HDCP

I have two HD screens connected though a Startech dock DK30CHDPPDUE using display link software on a 2018 MacBook Pro running Catalina. I can't watch movies or programmes I have both in the items store on either connected display. Works fine if I disconnect from the displays and watch through MacBooks own screen. Display link tell me it is because Apple's operating system does not support it. Works fine in Windows 10. Anybody find a fix to watch through connected displays whilst Apple slowly catch up with Windows on this?

I found more information on the command above.

  2. https://forums.whirlpool.net.au/archive/2757251 HDCP error / Stuttering Fix / Netflix issues

This appears to involve problems with internal monitor and doesn't seem to apply to your system. Given that the command has to be entered with su or sudo while in recovery mode, this is not a command that I would wish to try.

Can you watch the movie on your the monitor that is inside your MacBook. Can you use the HD displays when they are plugged directly into the MacBook Pro instead of going through the dock?

See https://support.displaylink.com/forums/287786-displaylink-feature-suggestions/suggestions/35189017-enable-hdcp-protected-content-playback-on-macos-i HDCP can be stopped by software or hardware in the middle since the computer is no longer able to determine what the display is. This is the reason professional level equipment uses SDI instead of HDMI.

If you want information on the nvram command, type man nvram to get information on how to use it.

https://software.intel.com/en-us/download/intel-sgx-intel-epid-provisioning-and-attestation-servicehttps://software.intel.com/en-us/articles/intel-enhanced-privacy-id-epid-security-technologygives gives information on the Enhanced Privacy ID security features involving provisioning of firmware. I would contact somebody much more knowledgable before trying to use a command of this type. This type of command can destroy your machine if the incorrect values are used.

In any event the specific value above is described at https://github.com/erikberglund/AppleNVRAM/blob/master/EFI/8BE4DF61-93CA-11D2-AA0D-00E098032B8C.md Other information on the nvram command indicates that it can completely prevent booting of your workstation.
