Photos keep disappearing

What is going on??!! I had over 150 photos that disappeared. Then I took more photos that disappeared AGAIN. With each update photos are disappearing. I’m disgusted with Apple. Now I’m seeing these devices in commercials that save your photos in the cloud. Maybe Apple is working on something that would force users to buy this device. I’m getting the feeling this is all for a reason. PROFIT.
