Clicking view > show side preview on and off does nothing. I suspect the column width was shrunk too small somehow to 0, how do I revert to the default screen setting for preview side bar size? I need to see the preview of the mail.

Hover the cursor over the right edge of the Mail window until it turns into a left pointing arrow…
Then click & drag to the left until the pane pops open.

FWIW, the pane doesn't reveal itself while you drag. It "pops" open once you get near half way to the left.
I see the cursor like that yes. It will not drag the column out though when I click and drag. The left column will move like that but the preview column on the right seems to be stuck or gone entirely. I appreciate the tip though. I think I might have to delete the mail app and reinstall??
