ipad 2018 ios 13.2.2 - No sound when playing games

I've tried googling the heck out of this but it seems none of the topics relate to this newer generation of software, even though it seems to be quite a popular issue. I believe mine started when I updated to ios 13. I now have no sound when I play games, except if my bluetooth headphones are connected. The speakers work fine with youtube, etc, just not with any games.

I have tried rebooting it, soft reset (home+pwr button). I've made sure the sound isn't on "mute," etc.

I'd really love to solve this issue.

Any ideas?

iPad, iOS 13

I have no idea why mine was set the way it was, but I ended up just dragging the quick access menu by swiping down from the very top. It's the menu where the brightness, volume, music, screen mirroring, bluetooth, etc controls are. I noticed that the little silent mode bell was turned on (long story short, mine was in silent mode), even though I could still hear everything from youtube, etc.
