Help!! My Hosts file is deleted and now nothing will work on my mac. Cant even get on the internet. I was orginally trying to change the file because i could not complete the latest update. and now nothing words. ive traded typing out the code

I tried putting the code back in TextEdit and saving it again but nothing works. Help someone

localhost not resolving to 127.0.0.1 My localhost is not resolving to 127.0.01, preventing me from opening files on localhost from my browser unless I manually enter 127.0.0.1. How can I get it to resolve correctly without hardwiring localhost (it should still adjust and update itself as necessary after this). Old website appearing after changing host I changed host from Fat Cow to Wix. Cleared cache in Chrome (More--> Settings), Safari. (Developer--> Clean Cache) Deleted preferences in Library, Clean install of Chrome. Emptied trash Rebooted. Still shows old site. Downloaded new (never used on this iMac) Firefox and new site appears. Obviously this is something in my caches, but I can't figure out clean them better than I have Running Catalina 10.15.5 (19F101). Older model iMac (circa 2014). Not my MBP. I developed in the older iMacThanks.

Does your computer still boot? If so, I recommend backing up your computer and data first: Back up your Mac with Time Machine - Apple Support

Then, once you complete getting your backup, I recommend reinstalling macOS from Recovery: How to reinstall macOS from macOS Recovery - Apple Support
