Getting service on new phone without switching SIM card

Hi, so I got a new iPhone 6s and I lost my old phone, I want to get service and keep everything thing the same on my new phone but don't have a the old phones SIM card. Is there anyway I could do that without switching the SIM card.

You get a new sim card from your phone carrier.

Nothing is stored on the sim card.

You restore from your icloud or itunes backup to put data on your new phone.
